Peter Cooks Bread is an award winning bakery set in the foot of the Malvern Hills. The business is on a mission to share the joys of real bread, especially during Real Bread Week, which is the annual, international celebration of supporting your local, independent real bread bakery and baking your own.
Peter Cooks bread has been awarded Best Food Producer at the Visit Herefordshire Awards for Excellence for the last two years running. Business owner Peter Cook was Head Baker at Price & Sons in Ludlow for over twenty years. His business partner Shona Kelly was a home-baker working in marketing in London. The pair met through the Real Bread Campaign on Twitter and established Peter Cooks Bread in March 2014.
Now employing twelve people, Peter Cooks Bread can be found in stores across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and supplies customers from the Welsh borders to Birmingham.
The business also offers bread-making workshops, where a day can be spent in their bakery at The Hop Pocket learning how to make real bread at home. There are currently three workshops on offer; a Basic Bread Workshop, a Sourdough Bread Workshop and an Advanced Bread Workshop. More information can be found at: http://www.petercooksbread.co.uk/workshops/.
From 24 February to 4 March it's Real Bread Week, which is the perfect time to support your local bakery.
Peter Cook said: "We’re passionate about making bread that tastes great, is good for you and helps the local community. Our bread contains only natural ingredients, and no artificial additives. Every loaf that comes out of our oven is made slowly by hand, using just four ingredients - flour, water, yeast (mostly wild) and salt. We're based at the foot of the Malvern Hills and it's a lovely part of the country to be living and working in. There are lots of other small food producers in the area that we have links with and we use their produce. There are a range of events in the area too which keeps us busy."
