Engineers, businesses and organisations from across the county are supporting the 2018 Year of Engineering.
Launched on 15th January, the Year of Engineering is a national campaign to inspire the next generation of engineers. Engineering is one of the most productive sectors in the UK, but a shortfall of 20,000 engineering graduates every year is damaging growth.
Throughout 2018, young people and their parents will have the chance to take a closer look at engineering. In Worcester schools have the opportunity to take part in the Worcester City STEM Challenge, where students can learn about structures and mechanisms, and use their knowledge to solve a construction challenge. The Worcestershire Skills Show, the largest careers and skills event in the county, will also take place on Wednesday 7 March.
By bringing young people face to face with engineering role models and achievements, the campaign will showcase the creativity, variety and innovation of the profession. The campaign will see a national drive in all corners of the country to inspire the young people who will shape our future.
